Eco Museo - centro di recupero per terrazzamenti

The Ecomuseo dei terrazzamenti e della vite di Cortemilia, established in 1997, is a unique cultural space that documents and enhances the terraced territory, typical of the area, promoting sustainable local development. It is the first Italian project to identify the terraced landscape as an important and valuable landscape. This space, located on the ground floor of the Palazzo della Biblioteca, a historical building in the town centre, is also offered for small temporary art exhibitions/shows, illustrations and photography (one month duration, on request.

The chestnut dryer (or ‘scau’ in Piedmontese dialect), is a traditional structure typical of the Alta Langa, characterised by a circular layout and a conical stone roof. A few kilometres from the centre of Cortemilia (but also reachable on foot with a beautiful walk through the hills) during the year, the space hosts theme days, events and moments of conviviality. It can be used on request to organise small meetings/events such as readings, concerts, snacks or as a stop-off point for excursions.
