A restaurant in the heart of Borgomale, right opposite the castle, in the same building that houses the Town Hall.
The restaurant is an intimate and distinctive municipal space, with around 40 seats and an outdoor terrace overlooking the square. Its most remarkable feature is the ancient crutin: underground cellars carved into the tuff stone, believed to date back to the 14th century, around the time the nearby castle was built.
Restored in 2005, the crutin extend over two underground levels: the upper level was once used to store wine and food, while the deeper level housed a natural ice cellar.
Stone, brick, wood and underground spaces give Il Crutin a strong character of its own, right in the centre of a small village in the Alta Langa.
Looking for a new manager
Il Crutin has previously operated as a restaurant and is now looking for someone new to take it over, reopen the space and continue its hospitality tradition.
Borgomale currently has no other bars or restaurants, so reopening Il Crutin would mean more than simply starting a business in a unique setting: it would bring a service and a meeting place back to the heart of the village, for both residents and visitors.
A place ready for a new project — and for someone who wants to bring it back to life.
