Canelli is known as the capital of Italian spumante, thanks to its long wine-making tradition. This municipality, located in the Asti hills, is home to some of the oldest wine cellars in Italy, the so-called underground cathedrals, recognised by UNESCO. History and oenology are intertwined in Canelli, where it is possible to explore the Gancia castle and participate in tastings that reveal the secrets of sparkling wine production. The village is also an excellent starting point for excursions among the vineyards of the Langhe and Monferrato.
